The society was known as the Ancient and Noble Order of the Gormogons. It was first recorded in 1724, in London’s Daily Post’s article which described its appearance. They were anti-Freemasons, and would accept former Freemasons only if they renounced the Masonic Order. The Gormogons’ rituals are unknown, since there was no written record of their practices or origin. Some people theorize it was a Freemason called Andrew Michael Ramsay that founded the group which disappeared in 1738.
