Sometimes, even getting married is a reason to start a secret organization, When American scientist and writer John D. Clark got married to his wife, his friends couldn’t stand her. So they started a male-only club to hang out only with him. The smart name was borrowed from the spider that closes the door inside its burrow so that enemies don’t come in – and the wife was the enemy here.

Some of the members of this society were Isaac Asimov, Martin Gardner, and L. Sprague de Camp.
