14. The Illuminati
In 1776, the Perfectibilists founded the Illuminati group in Ingolstadt (Upper Bavaria), by Adam Weishaupt. The group is known as the Bavarian Illuminati, and it operated illegally, even if politicians and intellectuals were part of it. Most of the members were humanists, which is why it is believed that they wanted to overthrow religion.
It is believed that, even if the group is known to have collapsed in the late 1700s, it could still be alive today, some people suggesting that the Skull and Bones club is the American Illuminati branch.
