Carson doesn’t use the word disability to describe her condition
Carson believes that the word disability is limiting. She says that when someone says that she has a disability, it infers that she’s not capable of doing something. So she uses the word ‘unique’ to describe her birth defect. By calling it unique, it puts the situation in a different perspective. She finds that it doesn’t limit her and changes the way people view her abilities.
