Professional pushers are pretty popular in Japan and the job’s just as odd as it comes. As a pusher, it would be your responsibility to shove people into crowded subway cars. The hope is that by being a people pusher, you can help the train close its doors and prevent delays so everyone can get to work on time. It’s so popular that they do it in China too.
