13. The Origins of the “Indian” Name

Since we previously mentioned the first time that the Europeans first set foot on the land, we also need to mention that the name “Indian” was coined by none other than famous Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. The reason why he called them Indians is because he was searching for the East Indies.
