Mercedes-Benz Bought Chrysler
In 1998, Daimler Benz bought Chrysler for $37 billion, trying to merge the two companies into one that would be called Daimler Chrysler. The idea was to dominate both Europe and the U.S., but the companies couldn’t agree due to many differences, and in 2007, Daimler Benz sold Chrysler for only $7 billion!
