Charred Remains
The infant remains were found at the top of what appeared to be a fire pit. It was like nothing they’d seen before. “We couldn’t compare this to anything,” Potter said. “Because nobody’s found anything like this before.” The three-year-old’s body was so badly charred, it was impossible to extract DNA from it. As he explored the area, Potter realized he wasn’t simply looking at a site used to burn bodies in the middle of nowhere. People had actually lived here. But where had they gone?
