8. What Makes an Ancient Animal a Dinosaur?

With so many new species being discovered every year, scientists are having a tough time distinguishing dinosaurs from other animal species. In the past, paleontologists knew that there were some unique traits in dinosaurs, but now these traits were also found in other species.
Paleontologist Randall Irmis, explains that now the only distinguishing feature of a dinosaur is “having a complete hole in the hip socket.” All of the other features also appear in non-dinosaurs.
