Perhaps dolls are scary because they’re not supposed to be scary. Psychologically, we’re societally conditioned to fear any and everything as being a source of danger. For example, the burrito you have for lunch may be infected with e. coli. The fear of dolls is one of the more primal instances of this instinct to doubt everything we see.
