Our Family Tradition
Whenever it was Christmas day, my parents would always hide a pickle (ornament) in the tree; whoever found it first got to open the first gift and also get a small gift (like a candy bar).
We have done this for years, and whenever I tell my friends, they always look at me funny. It is supposedly something that is very common in Germany.
