My mom viewed Christmas presents as a game. She would open whatever she bought for people and move the gifts to different boxes.
Everyone knew if you got a present from my mom, it wasn’t going to be whatever the box claimed was inside. My Super Nintendo came in a blender box.
It thoroughly surprised me when I received a Christmas gift from an ex-gf that was in its original box.
