My Mother’s Request
While at the supermarket, the clerk tallied up my groceries, and it was $12 more than what I had in my wallet. As I began to remove items from my bags, another shopper handed me a $20 bill. I told him “please don’t put yourself out.” He responded by saying, “Let me tell you a story. My mom is in the hospital with cancer. I visit her every day and I bring her flowers. This morning, she got mad at me for spending my money on flowers. She told me to do something else with the money. So, here, please accept this. It is my mother’s flowers.”
