My Neighbor, Jimmy
My neighbor, Jimmy, was having trouble deciding whether he wanted to retire from his construction job. One day, he ran into a young man he’d worked with previously. The man had a wife and three children and was finding it impossible to make ends meet, since he hadn’t been working in a while. The next day, Jimmy went to the union office and submitted his retirement paperwork and gave the young man’s name as his replacement. That was six years ago, and the young man has been employed ever since.
