The Rigged Raffle
Back when I was in first grade, my mother was really struggling financially. She mentioned how hard Thanksgiving was going to be to one of my classmates’ moms and we thought that it was the end of it. The week before Thanksgiving, there was a raffle where the winner would receive a Thanksgiving dinner. My teacher gave every student two cards from a deck. I’d won the raffle and I was so happy, but I suspected something was up because I never win anything.
