A Simple Kindness

I had to pull over onto the side of a New Mexico road because I was suffering from a panic attack. A minivan full of kids suddenly pulls over behind me. A woman got out and asked if I was okay, to which I responded, no. I explained that I was delivering books for a publishing company and my next stop was up a treacherously winding road. I couldn’t do it. She said she’d deliver them for me. She was a local, so the roads were nothing for her. I took her up on the offer and never forgot her kindness.
