An Unwavering Disposition

As I walked through the parking lot, all I could think about was the devastating diagnosis I gave my patient Jimmy; he had pancreatic cancer. At the same time, I noticed an elderly mand handing tools to someone working on his stalled car. It was Jimmy. I asked him what he was doing, and he responded by saying, “My cancer didn’t tell me not to help others, Doc.” he then waved at the old man to start the car and the engine roared to life. He thanked Jimmy and drove off. Then Jimmy got into his car and left. Despite his terrible odds, it was his kind and unwavering disposition that helped him to beat it.
