A Hardworking Dishwasher
My parents got divorced a couple of years ago and while two of us were kicked out, my younger (13-year-old) brother was left between the fighting divorcees. I took custody of him and three years later, he has a part-time job as a dishwasher at a Mexican restaurant. One day while picking him up, the manager asks why I kept picking him up, and where our parents were. I gave him a summary, but nothing too crazy. The owner offered to pay my college tuition so that I could better take care of my brother. He even set up a fund for him. I’m now going to medical school for free and my brother will have the same opportunity when he leaves high school. I would never be able to thank him enough.
