I met my now-husband while he was divorcing his ex-wife. At that point, he and his wife had been separated for over a year, but my mother-in-law called me his mistress for the first 3 years of our relationship. She passed away a few years ago of cancer because she didn’t believe in Western medicine, but not before telling her husband that he was responsible for her death.
