My husband happens to be a first-generation Korean American, and because I’m not Korean, my mother-in-law does not like me, not one bit. When he told his parents, he was going to propose to me, she threatened to hurt herself, until her husband, a psychiatrist, threatened to have her institutionalized. She adjusted her attitude very quickly.
