The rude woman paused for a few seconds. What he’d said had only enraged her further. She looked at her coworkers — as if trying to score points with them. Then, she looked Jarrid straight in the eyes and made a threat. She screamed at him to get “out the door,” and threatened to physically kick him out with her boot. Only, those weren’t the words she used. All the other people in the office erupted with laughter. Jarrid felt like he wanted the earth to open and swallow him whole. Now was the time to leave. But he wasn’t fast enough.
