John was scared. He looked Christian dead in the eyes and he knew there was no talking him out it. Leaving John to return to safety, Christian pushed on alone, comforted by the pull of the rope he knew his colleagues and friends were on the other end of. Sure, he could have turned back, but the butterflies in his stomach were raging. He had to find out what had been living in the cave. Then, something slimy grabbed onto his ankle. And at that moment, Christian’s headlamp went out completely.
