Called “The Butcher of Rostov,” Andrei Chikatilo sexually assaulted, mutilated and killed 53 women and children between 1978 and 1990. At least he admitted he was a “mistake of nature” who had to be destroyed. A firing squad happily obliged in 1994 after Chikatilo was captured two years earlier.
