Investigators swept the entire area with metal detectors and found even more secret passageways filled with cables underground. But, in the end, the criminals’ plan was halted by heavy rain. And when the rain-soaked earth began to give way, the secret tunnel collapsed in several places — one of which became the so-called “pothole” that had appeared in the road.
