Scrolls are a rare carving to be found on gravestones but when you do see one, it carries a deep meaning. Scrolls represent concepts of both time and life.
The rolled-up end of the scroll represents how the duration of a person’s life can’t be predicted. But, if the manuscript is being held, that symbolizes that a divine presence, such as an angel, is watching over your activities.
