Twitter Political Murder

In January 2014, Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Indian minister Shashi Tharoor, used her husband’s Twitter account to post private and intimate messages supposedly exchanged between him and Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar. Pushkar accused the journalist of stalking her husband and of secretly being a Pakinstani intelligence agent. According to Pushkar’s domestic employees, she had at the same time threatened to her husband that she’d “disclose everything,” and that he was “finished.” Two days later, Pushkar was dead by poison. Whether her death was suicide or something more sinister remains an open question. Tharoor is awaiting trial for charges of “abetment to suicide” in his wife’s death.
