The Silk Road Shutdown
Silk Road was a black market “darknet” website that allowed people to offer illegal services and purchase drugs, firearms, Bitcoin or even, allegedly, hitmen. But the FBI hacked Silk Road, located six of its off-the-grid servers, and shut down the site. Ross Ulbricht, who operated the site, is serving a double life sentence plus 40 years without the possibility of parole.
