Google’s Invasion of Privacy
In 2007, Google saw a flood of privacy complaints, fines and audits after adding the Street View feature to Google Maps. People were worried they’d get caught leaving adult bookstores, cheating on their spouses, or even just relaxing in the comfort of their own homes. In response, Google added a blurring feature for license plates and faces as well as an option that allowed users to flag images for removal.
