The Restaurants in Italy Add Service Charge to the Bill

From Home to Rome

Did you know that you’re not actually expected to leave a tip in Italy? That’s because the restaurants there add a service charge to the bill, ranging from 10%-15%. Some restaurants also add a charge for extras such as bread, plates, silverware, etc. In case the restaurant doesn’t include the service charge, customers usually round up the bill. For example, they leave a €20 bill for a €19 meal.
