In Ireland, Everyone is a Friend

The Irish strongly believe that a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet. They consider anyone a friend and are very friendly to people they had just met a second ago. Locals have a tradition to talk to all types of people with the same level of friendliness, regardless of their social status and wealth. For example, it’s considered normal to invite a police officer you meet in the street for a drink, something we can’t imagine ever doing in the US.
