In France, Milk Doesn’t Belong in the Refrigerator

The pasteurized milk found in American grocery stores can only last up to a few weeks. To prevent it from going bad, it needs to be refrigerated. In France, the milk is pasteurized using a “UHT” or “ultra-high temperature” processing method. They hit up the milk above 275 degrees for a few seconds, allowing it to have a shelf life of up to nine months.
