The Axeman of New Orleans
On the night of March 19th 1919, the Axeman promised to spare any residences that played jazz music. One popular theory as to his identity is that he was Joseph Momfre, who had been killed in 1920 by the widow of the Axeman’s final victim. No records exist, however, of any such crime having occurred.
