At the time, Joyce was already 96 years old! Though her age surprised them, Joyce was lucid and had good hearing. For Carla Spizzirri, this was impressive seeing as she had to speak louder whenever she talks to her own grandmother.
It was definitely amazing that Joyce was in such good shape in spite of her advanced years, but the actual surprise which was waiting for the sisters was much more incredible.
