John started working on the yard, though it seemed like the elements were going against him. The Arizona heat was naturally in full effect and rose to three-digit degrees Fahrenheit.
In spite of this, John kept going, in the hope that he would stumble upon something worthwhile. However, he found nothing even with the determined labor. Instead of giving up, John kept going.
