Scrabbling
The total came to $56.29 – she’d miscalculated. Her face began to flush as she scrabbled in her purse for some loose change, all too aware of the eyes burning a hole into her back. Her hands began to shake from the sheer embarrassment of holding up the line, and then the realization dawned on her that she was going to have to leave something behind. Suddenly, she heard a voice from her shoulder. It was the blonde woman. What did she want?
