Rowdy Roddy Piper (Roderick George Toombs) was an active wrestler for more than 30 years and was one of the only few in the industry to amass so many years and be successful while at it. The crowd loved his character as he always assumed the role of a villain in most of his wrestling matches.
He was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 but publicized the sad news a year later that he was suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He managed to fight the disease for another ten years until he died in 2015 from a cardiac arrest.
