Norman Lear Wrote The Series Based On His Own Family
It’s a known fact that writers usually turn to personal experiences when writing the series. Norman Lear based the show on his relationship with his parents, but especially the relationship he had with his father. He used many of his fathers’ catchphrases in “All in the Family”, including the well known “Stifle yourself”.
