Turn Down the Water Temperature

We know this is not what you want to hear, but hot showers are doing more damage than good. They’re not healthy for your skin, no matter how cold it might be outside. Dermatologist Erum Ilyas claims that hot water removes the essential natural oils from the skin, resulting in a dry and itchy feeling. As we age, this problem becomes even more severe. “As our skin thins, it becomes more sensitive to hot water. Lower your water temperature to warm. If that’s too cold for you, limit the time you spend in a hot shower,” Dr. Ilyas shared with Insider.
