Don’t Leave Your Sponge or Loofah in The Shower

Leaving your loofah or sponge between rinses attracts bacteria as they love warm and moist environments. According to dermatologist J. Matthew Knight, this is an ideal environment for bacteria, mold, and yeast. A study in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology states that E. coli is often present in loofahs or sponges, which can infect our skin. To prevent the accumulation of bacteria, experts recommend drying the sponge or loofah outside of the shower, or even better, wash it after each use.
