The Altamont Concert Incident
The concert was held at Altamont Speedway in 1969, and both the bands and the crowd weren’t sure that the Hells Angels were the best security option. Not only did they fight with concertgoers, but there was also a pretty dangerous situation the occurred. At one point, a man named Merideth Hunter pulled out a gun and was quickly brought down by Hells Angels members. One of the members named Passaro got out his knife and stabbed Hunter to death. He was arrested and charged with murder. Later footage showed that Passaro was acting in self-defense, and the sentence was reduced.
