As the ambulance sped away en route to the hospital, Ryan got in his vehicle and followed closely behind. He didn’t miss a beat. On his way to the hospital, his brain tried to negotiate the events that had occurred just half an hour ago that led to this unfortunate situation in which he and his wife found themselves. On one hand, his wife was the protagonist of a story that seemed to be going downhill by the second. On the other hand, he was the loving husband, traumatized and wrought with distress.
