Fatal Decision
Ryan wasn’t the only one trying to be hopeful with regard to his wife’s condition. Family and friends were all lifting up prayers and hoping for Jill’s speedy recovery. Ryan felt comforted knowing that he wasn’t alone in this ordeal. However, there was only so much that they could do. Unfortunately, some of his friends and loved ones were beginning to lose faith. What’s more, her condition was looking bleaker with each passing day. As hard as it was on Ryan, Jill’s parents were also having a tough time digesting the news. Making A Choice
Ryan loved Jill. It was obvious to anyone who knew the couple. He vowed to always be there for her. He did not believe in his heart that his wife was going to leave him so suddenly. Still, she wasn’t getting any better despite the various treatments administered by the doctor. While he loved her, he couldn’t fathom her remaining in a hospital bed for all time. He was then faced with one of the most challenging decisions of his entire life: should he pull the plug on his wife? In his diary, he wrote, “today could be the worst day of my life. I essentially have to decide whether Jill will live or not.” What would he decide? Ryan didn’t have to think too hard to make a decision: he just had to recall one conversation that he had had with Jill some years prior…
