Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen had always had a tumultuous (and drug-fueled) relationship. On Oct. 12, 1978, Vicious stabbed Spungen in the abdomen at the Hotel Chelsea in New York. Four months later, Vicious himself overdosed on heroin.
