Normal (2003): An HBO film starring Tom Wilkinson and Jessica Lange. Tom plays a Midwestern factory worker who has gender reassignment surgery, and it deals with the effects on his wife, played by Jessica Lange. This was nominated for a number of Emmys, Golden Globes, and a GLAAD award. A typical middle-brow ‘worthy’ social issues drama that is nonetheless condescending and incredibly cisheteronormative.
