Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer (1986)
This film was a corrective to the gleeful and morally ambivalent slasher craze of the 80s. This painfully realistic film takes its subject, a serial killer, seriously. The murders are all the more horrific for it. Henry has more than earned its brutal reputation, and despite years of delays because of its violence, it is now considered a horror classic.
