The movie that established Takashi Miike as one of horror’s most disturbed and revered filmmakers, Audition was actually really well received on its initial release. It tells the story of a widower who pretends to be auditioning for a film, when he is really just looking for girls to date. Well, that doesn’t go too well for him and the violent climax is one of the most unspeakable sequences in horror.
