Another entry in the New French Extremism genre, High Tension is less violent than Martyrs (re:still insanely violent), but a much better film overall. It is also one of the few films on this list with a famous actress (albeit in France) at its centre in Cécile de France. This film about two friends stalked by a violent truck driver will haunt you like no others, and de France is amazing in it.
