Rum, A Special Love
Although we have brought down many myths about the pirates that cinema has brought us, pirates’ love for rum is true. Pirates used to drink everything that they had available, but their favorite drink was Grog. Grog contained lemon juice, some sugar, water, and their beloved rum! One of the most important reasons for them to constantly drink Grog was to make stagnant water in the casks taste better. They had rations and were not allowed to drink too much at once so that they won’t get drunk.
