The Golden Age of Piracy

While we’re mostly talking and imagining pirates from the “Golden Age of Piracy” (1650 – 1720), evidence of pirates dates back to ancient times – nearly 3000 years before pirates like Blackbeard, Calico Jack Rackham, and Henry Morgan became famous and made a name for themselves.
Back in 1353 B.C., there were reports of pirates raiding Egypt’s coastal cities and ports. The Mediterranean was also raided and both Romans’ and Greeks’ trading routes were disrupted.
