Innovation was the name of the game in 1947, in a time where inks that guided physicians and headwear equipped with lights didn’t exist. Here, x-ray imaging was being used by medical professionals to look for signs of heart disease in the patient. One can see the inspection of the cardiac valves and coronary arteries during the process, known as cardiac catheterization. The wondrous thing is that not much has changed about this procedure, despite the eight decades that have passed; it’s just much less invasive today.
